Virtual NHL Expansion Draft

OK, I thought about this idea for a thread before and after chatting with smurray over STEAM about certain players on other teams. I figure WTF, it should be fun to see who you would draft if you were the GM of a new NHL Market and you had limited abilities to pluck from every existing NHL team.

Here are the rules so people don't Draft All-Star teams.

You can only draft players who are 2nd liners or below.

• Pick one player from each NHL Team
• No Franchise Players (excluded are the Crosbys, Malkins, Ovechkins, and Kovalchuks, of the world)
• You are allowed 1 Elite franchise type Goalie (since the pool is pretty shallow) and a backup.

• Top pair Defensemen are also excluded (ex: Pronger, Green, Keith, Gonchar, Phaneuf, Bouwmeester, etc..)
• They must be playing, or have played in, at least 30 or more games in the NHL
• No AHL players *unless they have played 30+ gamesin the NHL (see above rule)
• No KHL players who used to play in the NHL
• Rosters are to be 3 lines (9 forwards, 6 Defensemen and 2 goalies)

Start your team in one post and edit it as you decide your roster. Once rosters are complete then we can talk shit. Try to make the thread readable.

Before we start if anyone has any additions to the rules I've come up with speak now.

Added another rule that I forgot about. Your only allowed 1 player from each Team.

So you want to post whole teams? Can players be used twice? Say if smurray takes someone like Shea Weber, can I pick him too?

Yeah just pick whoever you want. It doesn't matter who anyone else picks

Did I stay within the rules? I went with 2nd liners or below. Not sure if you consider people like Malkin and Zetterberg franchise players since they have Crosby and Datsyuk.

My issue with this thread is the lines between Franchise players/first pairing defensemen and players who are not is extremely blurry. For instance, I consider Shea Weber to be both a first pairing defenseman and a franchise player, etc. Is Mike Richards or Jeff Carter a franchise player or not? Depends on who you ask, really.
